Lights Out Video

November 12, 2013

I am thrilled to announce that our new video for Lights Out has been released into the internets.  This video was the product of countless hours of hard work from director Calder Greenwood, who built all the sets, models & costumes inside his apartment.  The virtual reality girl was created in-camera, as a tribute to the techniques used in John Carpenter’s Escape From New York.  In that film, they used real-life objects like shoeboxes painted black and outlined in reflective tape to make a city skyline that looks like a computer rendering, so we tried the same thing.  The digital heads and hands for Yutaka, the lead actor, were sculpted in Maya, printed on paper, and then folded into wearable masks and gloves.  The subway train set was modeled after the Chūō-Sōbu Line in Toyko.  I want to thank Calder and all the actors, artists, and friends who gave their time to this project–I am so proud of what you all created in this video.
